Hairstyles of the rich and famous are something that most avid fans will want to follow. In fact, two very famous hairstyles from the late 1990s and early 2000s really took off. Literally everywhere you looked, scores of women were sporting the Jennifer Anniston bob. Not forgetting the men, you may recall seeing the David Beckham Mohawk and indeed the DB Grade 1 shaved style. However, taking the plunge and actually getting a new haircut or style fills many of us with fear. You’re not sure whether a particular style is suited to your face shape, skin tone or colour, etc. Well, fear no more, as “there’s an app for that”.
Probably the most famous phrase of the 21st century, “there’s an app for that”, well it just so happens to be true for those of you who would like to “test” a new hairstyle before actually taking the plunge. It is called Hair Booth HD and allows for up to 40 different styles to be tested for both men and women. It is said that the final results are pretty realistic and you even have the opportunity to share your snaps via social media. In fact, why not fool a few friends by putting up a photo of yourself with a completely new and outrageous hairstyle on Facebook or Twitter.
Male or Female
The first page of the app will have a male and female cartoon caricature labelled Guy and Gal. simply choose your particular sex and go from there. Saying that, there’s nothing wrong with playing around with styles from the opposite sex, something you can upload and freak friends out with.
Take a Photo
You will then be taken to the next slide which is where you take and upload a photo of yourself. This is best done as a picture of your head and shoulders, thus giving you an idea of how suited both style and length are to you. If you don’t like the photo that you’ve uploaded you will be shown a preview and then have the option to use this photo or retake another.
You can view the gallery of various hairstyles and choose your favourites. You can test any number of famous styles, colours and lengths. It is recommended that the photo of yourself that you add should always have your face facing forwards, as this allows for a more realistic appearance. The app then actually allows you to play about a little with the hair. You can pull or pinch your thumb and forefinger over the hairstyle to simply resize. Perhaps you like a particular style, but like to know how it would look on you as a shorter or longer version.
Not only is this an app that can give you a real insight into how a particular hairstyle may look on you, as with most apps it can mean hours on fun for you and friends. The app is available for iPhone, iPhone touch and iPad and can be downloaded for $0.99.
